How enrichment works
Enrichment takes a partial record, such as a company domain or a name and email, and looks it up in one or more data sets to fill in other fields. The hard part is matching correctly: the same company can appear under different names, and the same person under several addresses. This is the classic record linkage problem, which Wikipedia describes as finding records in different sources that refer to the same entity [1]. Some teams query several providers in sequence and keep the first confident answer, an approach called Waterfall Enrichment. Enrichment can run once on import, on a schedule, or in real time when a lead is created in the CRM (Customer Relationship Management).
What to enrich and why
Enrich only the fields you will use. For qualification, that usually means Firmographics such as headcount and industry and Technographics relevant to your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).
